This Saturday afternoon, Al-Ahram reported that Karim Badawi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, stated, “Work is proceeding rapidly to connect two additional wells before the end of this year, bringing the field’s total production to 75 million cubic feet per day at the beginning of the new year 2026.” The Egyptian minister emphasized that “this achievement is the result of intensive efforts in collaboration with investment partners,” while praising the British company, Chiron Energy, for its full commitment to executing the project according to the highest safety and efficiency standards.

The Egyptian minister highlighted the significant efforts made by the Egyptian petroleum sector in collaboration with its partners to gradually reduce the import bill by accelerating the development of discovered fields and advancing new exploration and research programs. This comes in light of the investment incentives adopted by the ministry, which have clearly impacted production rates.

Karim Badawi stressed that “increasing local production will contribute to reducing the import bill, enhancing gas reserves, and meeting local market and electricity and industry needs.” It is noted that the West Burullus field is located in the West Burullus Offshore Concession area and was discovered in 2022 as part of a successful exploration campaign conducted by the British company Chiron Energy in partnership with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS).
