In a speech addressed to the American forces on the occasion of Thanksgiving, Trump said: “Now 11 of them are being built, and they will arrive in the United States very soon.” Trump also acknowledged that the United States has only one icebreaker compared to Russia’s 48, describing the situation as “ridiculous” given the significant difference between the two countries.
He added: “We have only one, and Russia has 48. This is simply unreasonable,” stressing that investment is part of his country’s efforts to strengthen maritime capabilities and national security in the face of increasing global challenges.
