Advanced Radar System Requirements

Washington – Sputnik. The information request specifies a set of required capabilities, demanding that the radar system handle a joint attack of ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missiles simultaneously.

For ballistic missile defense, the system must detect a very small, hard-to-detect target (-10 dBms) over a range of 2233 km (1387 miles) and track up to 24 complex targets.

For hypersonic threats (20 dBms) over a range of 375 km, with the ability to track 10 complex targets, low-altitude acquisition is a fundamental requirement.

According to the request, the system must also maintain tracking identity and distinguish warheads from decoys within 180 seconds.

The radar is designed to be mobile, not a fixed system, with an ambitious deployment schedule. It must be transportable and capable of full operation and calibration within 48 hours of arriving at the site.

The system also features high autonomy, requiring no more than two personnel on site for maintenance, with radar operations management, software updates, and continuous calibration done remotely.

The system must interact with existing air defense and U.S. Army battle management systems, providing in-flight guidance updates to interceptors.

The document states that the information request is for informational and planning purposes only and does not constitute a request for proposals or a commitment to a future contract.
