Trends and Challenges

Regarding the latest trends and challenges in Big Data, Analytics, AI, and Cloud, Shukri Eid of IBM stated that many invest in AI suitable for experimentation, not full-scale implementation. The real shift is towards fit-for-purpose AI; domain-tuned systems that are faster, cheaper, easier to govern, and business-oriented.

“Currently, only 1% of enterprise data is within large language models. This means 99% of critical data — proprietary, industry-specific, regulated — remains untapped. Unlocking this data securely and responsibly is where real value lies,” he said.

Hybrid cloud is now standard, allowing enterprises to balance sovereignty, compliance, and performance while keeping AI close to data. Organizations increasingly seek embedded AI agents that do more than predict; they act, transforming data into smarter decisions and decisions into automation, he explained.

“We’re witnessing AI’s transition from experimentation to full-scale production. The challenge for many is deploying AI solutions reliably and at scale to achieve real business value. This is our focus with the ‘Enterprise Ready AI’ theme at GITEX Global, offering customers a clear path to progress,” he said.

“A strong trend is embedding Generative and Agentic AI into daily workflows across all business functions to enhance creativity and efficiency.”
