Residents in some parts of the UAE can expect rainfall on Thursday, August 21, according to a forecast by the National Centre of Meteorology.

The showers are expected due to some convective cloud formation towards eastward and southward areas.

The NCM had earlier said the UAE would experience thunderstorms and rain in some parts over the coming two days.

This is due to the fact that the region will be affected by the extension of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and its movement from the south towards the country, along with the advancement of surface and upper-level low-pressure systems from the south.

Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds are set to blow, freshening at times causing blowing dust and sand, with a speed of 10-25 km/hr, reaching 45 km/hr.

The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea.

The country will see the lowest temperature of 24ºC in Ras Al Khaimah’s Jebel Jais and soar to a high of 43ºC in Abu Dhabi’s Liwa. Meanwhile, Dubai will see a high of 42ºC and a low of 33ºC. Temperatures in Sharjah will go to a maximum of 43ºC and dip to a low of 33ºC.
