The UAE is preparing to celebrate its 54th National Day, now known as Eid Al Etihad since 2024, commemorating the historic unification on December 2, 1971.

As the grand celebration approaches this December, the Eid Al Etihad Team has initiated a nationwide call, inviting artists, designers, creative businesses, and manufacturers to contribute with official merchandise creations.

This initiative, aligned with the Year of Community, aims to spotlight the UAE’s diverse creative talent, fostering collaboration and inclusivity. Participants are encouraged to design merchandise that transcends basic products, becoming lasting symbols of the UAE’s identity and uniting communities in joy and pride.

Preparations for the celebration are already in progress, and all UAE residents are encouraged to start getting ready for this year’s festivities.

Eisa Alsubousi, Director of Strategic and Creative Affairs of the Eid Al Etihad Team, stated, “This open call offers a chance for partnership and inclusion, where creativity bridges people and strengthens our emotional connection to the shared national narrative. We look forward to collaborating with our creative community to develop sustainable merchandise rooted in heritage, community, and unity, bringing joy for today and excitement for the future we build together.”

Chosen applicants will have their creations featured and distributed as part of the official Eid Al Etihad merchandise collection. Those not selected, along with everyone else, are encouraged to use the Eid Al Etihad brand, available at www.EidAlEtihad.ae, in their celebrations and to share their creativity on social media to help shape a collective and unified 54th Eid Al Etihad.

Submissions are open until October 17 and can be made via the official Eid Al Etihad website and social media platforms.

Public holidays

Each December, a festive atmosphere envelops the UAE as the nation prepares to celebrate the historic union of the seven Emirates on December 2.

For many residents, Eid Al Etihad signifies UAE public holidays. Typically, both public and private sector employees enjoy two days off, December 2 and 3, providing an opportunity for staycations, road trips, or simply relaxing at home.

This year, residents will enjoy midweek holidays on Tuesday, December 2, and Wednesday, December 3. Why not extend the break? By taking annual leave on Monday, December 1, and Thursday and Friday (Dec 4, 5), you can enjoy a 9-day holiday to close out the year.
