Likhachev said during an interview: “China has ambitious plans to develop nuclear energy. The goal is set to keep up with and surpass the United States in installed capacity, reaching over 100 gigawatts.” Earlier, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of the state-owned company Rosatom, mentioned that expanding cooperation between Russia, China, and India in building new nuclear power plants is “imminent.” Likhachev added in press statements that operations have begun at Xudapu and Tianwan in the first units (of the new units under construction), and everything is proceeding according to the set schedule. In India, the third unit of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is scheduled to start operations by mid-next year, and we look forward to the fourth unit being operational by 2027.
