The spokesperson for the Civil Defense told the agency: The Civil Defense warned of the risks of collapsing damaged buildings that are about to fall due to the continued low-pressure weather system. He pointed out that thousands of tents have been flooded since dawn on Wednesday, with expectations that the stormy weather will continue until Friday evening.
A low-pressure weather system has been affecting Palestine since dawn on Wednesday, accompanied by a cold air mass that led to a significant drop in temperatures and heavy showers across various areas. The risks of collapses increase with the presence of damage from Israeli bombing during the war in the Gaza Strip.
The war in the Gaza Strip erupted on October 7, 2023, when the Hamas movement announced the start of the ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ operation. Israel responded by declaring a state of war and began a large-scale military campaign that included intense bombing followed by ground operations inside the strip.
With the escalation of military operations and the expansion of the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, regional and international mediation efforts have been active, led by Egypt and Qatar, with support from the United States, to reach understandings paving the way for a ceasefire. These efforts resulted in an agreement on a humanitarian truce, which entered its first phase on October 10, and included a temporary halt to combat operations and the release of batches of detainees from both sides, in addition to the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to the strip.
