In a television statement, this was made in response to claims by Israeli journalist Edi Cohen, who alleged that Israel participated in the construction of the Giza Pyramids. Shaker stated, “The time difference between the emergence of the modern entity and the era of building the Great Pyramid exceeds 1100 years.” He questioned, “How can someone claim participation in the construction of a great monument like the Khufu Pyramid, while this entity had not yet appeared?” He pointed out that Cohen’s statements fall under the deliberate distortion of history, which must be countered with science and logic.
Shaker explained that the Grand Egyptian Museum, officially opened on the first of November, houses around 57,000 artifacts, some of which are being exhibited for the first time. He noted that the oldest item displayed in the museum is a stone axe estimated to be about 700,000 years old, from a time when modern humans had not yet appeared.
He continued, “This piece represents the first physical evidence of human existence in early stages on the land of Egypt, and therefore it is one of the rarest and most significant artifacts displayed.”
