A statement issued by the armed forces of the group explained that the drone air force carried out the attack on military and vital targets, where a drone was directed to Ramon Airport, resulting in a direct hit and the suspension of air traffic there. Additionally, three drones targeted two sensitive military sites, a drone targeted a vital site in Ashkelon, another targeted Lod Airport, and two drones targeted a vital site in Ashdod.
The statement added that the attack comes “in support of the Palestinian people and in response to the crimes and starvation committed by the Zionist enemy in the Gaza Strip,” emphasizing Yemen’s continued support for the Palestinian cause as part of what they described as “the promised conquest and sacred jihad.”
The statement noted that the group will work to escalate its military operations while ensuring the development of its military capabilities to increase the effectiveness of its weapons, regardless of the challenges or consequences.
Since Tel Aviv resumed its military operations in the Gaza Strip on March 18, the “Ansar Allah” group in Yemen has intensified its attacks on Israel and related ships with the United States and Britain, prompting U.S. forces to carry out hundreds of airstrikes on the group’s sites in Yemen before the group and Washington reached a ceasefire agreement on May 6. However, “Ansar Allah” confirmed that the agreement does not include operations against Israel.
