Dubai Fountain’s Final Show Before Renovation

As the Dubai Fountain gears up for a temporary closure, numerous residents flocked to witness the emirate’s breathtaking water show.

This outdoor oasis, featuring an impressive display of water, music, and lights, is a favorite among both tourists and UAE residents. For many, it’s the ideal spot to relax, whether enjoying a coffee after a busy day, entertaining visitors from abroad, or simply savoring a serene evening by the Burj Khalifa.

The final performance of the Dubai Fountain is scheduled for 11pm on Saturday, after which it will close for a significant five-month renovation.

“I take my kids here once a month. They love dancing to the music and watching the towering water jets. It’s part of our routine. With the closure, it feels like something’s missing,” shared Anjali Rao, a teacher and long-term Dubai resident.

“But I’m sure when it reopens in five months, my children and I will be there on the first day. The fountain is already amazing, and I believe it will be even more spectacular after the upgrades. We’ll be eagerly waiting,” added Rao.

For some, the Dubai Fountain is more than a tourist spot; it’s a place filled with cherished memories.

Abels Alknis, a Latvian expat working in Downtown as a real estate executive, often stops by the fountain after work. “I visit twice a week to unwind. Standing by the fountain with a coffee in hand is so calming,” said Alknis.

Check out one of the performances on the fountain’s final day before its pause:

Alknis, unaware of the upcoming pause, expressed surprise. “I’m shocked such a stunning attraction will pause. The area might feel empty, not just of water but also of people. But I hope it will return better than ever,” added Alknis.

The Dubai Fountain will temporarily halt performances to enhance its choreography, lighting, and sound systems. Abra rides that bring visitors close to the show will also pause.

Many feel the renovation promises an even better experience.

Marisol, a Filipina nurse, read about the upgrades. “I’ve heard about new light effects and music,” said Marisol.

She fondly recalls her first fountain show in 2018 when visiting Dubai. “When I came to the UAE looking for work, my friends brought me here. I was amazed by the water heights. Back then, the crowd was even larger, all watching the water dance,” shared Marisol.

Imran Akram, a Dubai Mall store manager, frequently visits the fountain. “Whenever I can, I sit by the fountain. It’s so relaxing.”

“I’ll miss it for a while. I’m glad they’re upgrading it. Dubai always enhances things. If they say the new experience will be better, I believe it will be worth the wait.”
