During his meeting with Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Abdel Aaty emphasized that “any threat to the Gulf is a direct threat to Egypt.” He highlighted the importance of the Egyptian-Gulf political consultation mechanism in addressing current challenges and safeguarding Arab national security.

The meeting addressed regional developments, where Minister Abdel Aaty praised Oman’s balanced policy and the Sultanate’s efforts in supporting stability. He discussed with his Omani counterpart the latest developments concerning the Yemeni crisis and the Iranian nuclear file, especially after the agreement reached between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency in Cairo on September 9, which is the first agreement leading to the resumption of cooperation between the two parties following the Israeli attack on Iran.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, the Egyptian minister renewed “the strongest condemnation of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and grave violations in the West Bank,” warning of the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of this escalation and the accompanying systematic attempts at displacement and starvation.

Earlier, the Egyptian Foreign Minister stated that “the blatant Israeli aggression” on Qatar does not only target the State of Qatar but also undermines Arab collective security, and that compromising Qatar’s security is a direct breach of Arab national security. The Egyptian General Information Authority reported that Abdel Aaty’s statements came during a visit to Doha on Thursday, during which he met with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar.

The Egyptian minister conveyed President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s greetings and appreciation to the Emir of Qatar and Egypt’s full solidarity and support for the sisterly State of Qatar following the blatant Israeli aggression that targeted the Qatari capital, Doha, according to the statement. Minister Abdel Aaty reiterated Egypt’s strongest condemnation of “the Israeli aggression that represents a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the sisterly State of Qatar and a blatant breach of the provisions of international law and the United Nations Charter,” and offered condolences to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, for the victims who fell as a result of this attack.

For his part, the Emir of the State of Qatar expressed deep appreciation and gratitude for Egypt’s supportive stance for Qatar, and what the Foreign Minister’s visit embodies in terms of solidarity that reflects the depth of relations and fraternal ties between the two brotherly countries.

Earlier, the Secretary-General, Jassim Al-Budaiwi, expressed the council’s full solidarity with the State of Qatar after the Israeli attack that targeted the Palestinian Hamas delegation negotiating in Doha, calling on the international community to condemn and put an end to the repeated Israeli violations that undermine the region’s security.

Al-Budaiwi said during the eighth ministerial meeting of the strategic dialogue between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council: “While the GCC countries fully stand in solidarity with the State of Qatar, they demand that the international community condemn (the Israeli attack) and put an end to the repeated Israeli violations that undermine the security and stability of the region.”

Several Arab and regional countries expressed their strong condemnation of the Israeli attack on the Qatari capital, Doha, which targeted a building where several leaders and negotiators of the Palestinian Hamas movement were present to discuss reaching a ceasefire agreement. However, the attack did not result in the death of any Hamas leaders, according to a statement from the movement.
