Enhancing Plant Protection in Dry Conditions

Illustration for: Enhancing Plant Protection in Dry Conditions

The effectiveness of many plant protection products depends on weather conditions. In low humidity, droplets of formulations dry very quickly without settling on the plants. For this reason, farmers cannot cultivate fields during droughts, as seedlings are particularly vulnerable to damage. The proposed approach involves producing droplet solutions containing carefully selected diverse impurities. This allows control over the processes occurring within and improves formulation compositions by selecting additives that increase droplet stability and prolong treatment duration. Alexander Fedorits, Head of the Fine Hydrodynamics Laboratory at the Institute of Environmental and Agricultural Biology of Tyumen State University, commented, ‘Our development can become a tool for companies producing chemical plant protection products. It allows for the production of formulations for use in drier conditions.’ The study’s authors noted that the equipment necessary to apply this method is unique and was developed by the X-BIO Institute Laboratory at Tyumen State University.
