The Turkish newspaper ‘Fotomac’ reported this Tuesday evening that Fenerbahçe’s management is targeting a contract with the French international star Karim Benzema, the striker for Al-Ittihad Saudi Club, during the upcoming January. It was confirmed that the Turkish club, which is suffering from a clear offensive weakness, intends to make changes to its offensive lineup mid-season to strengthen the front line and improve the team’s overall performance.
The Turkish newspaper pointed out that the club president, Sadettin Saran, met with coach Tedesco, who confirmed the team’s need for a decisive striker capable of finishing opportunities, which made Benzema the most suitable option for the next phase.
It was noted that if the Turkish club receives a positive response from the 37-year-old and the management of Al-Ittihad Saudi Club, the deal will be completed urgently. Fenerbahçe may consider letting go of Colombian player John Duran, who has not delivered the expected performance since joining the team on loan from Al-Nassr Saudi Club and has suffered from repeated injuries.
It is noteworthy that the French player Karim Benzema of Al-Ittihad Saudi Club won the Best Player award in the Saudi League for the 2024–2025 sports season, while Al-Hilal player Salem Al-Dawsari won the Best Saudi Player award.
