In an interview with ‘Sputnik’ on the sidelines of the forum, Peskov stated: “The main focus will be the economic development of the Russian Far East, this vast region that still possesses immense untapped potential and is achieving growth rates above the national average thanks to the numerous programs that have been adopted.” Peskov added that “this will be at the heart of the president’s speech,” noting that President Putin “has already summarized the geopolitical outcomes of what happened in Beijing over the past four or five days… today, the main topic will not be geopolitics. Geopolitics should not be the main topic in the Russian economic forum.” The forum, held annually since 2015 (except in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), serves as a key platform to boost investment attractiveness in the Far East and develop international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. It takes place from September 3 to 6 in Vladivostok, on the grounds of the Far Eastern Federal University, under the motto: “The Far East – Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity.” Sputnik Agency is the general media partner for the forum.
