According to an advisor to French President Emmanuel Macron, the countries involved include France, Britain, Australia, Canada, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal, Malta, Andorra, and San Marino. The French presidency considered this to be “the largest violation of international law.” It added, “We will ask Israel, in cooperation with our partners, to take immediate measures,” emphasizing that “the future Palestinian state’s borders must be based on the 1967 lines.” Recently, Israeli officials have expressed their intention to annex large parts of the West Bank, which Israel has occupied since 1967, in response to international moves to recognize the State of Palestine. He added, “This would be a blatant violation of UN resolutions, and it is important to take all necessary measures today.” French President Emmanuel Macron stated in an interview with an Israeli channel last Thursday that Israel is risking its image and credibility in the world due to civilian casualties in Gaza. In the same context, Macron defended his decision to recognize the State of Palestine later this month, explaining that this step “is the best way to isolate Hamas.” A meeting is expected to be held on September 22nd, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France. Macron previously announced his country’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine during this summit, and other countries have also expressed their desire to take the same step.
