Araqchi explained to ‘The News’ newspaper that Iran prioritizes strengthening relations with neighboring countries, foremost among them Pakistan. He considered that both countries possess capabilities that enable them to play a pivotal role in the future of the region, pointing out that the visit of the Iranian President, Masoud Bazeshkian, to Islamabad reflects the acceleration of bilateral cooperation. He noted that this visit follows previous high-level meetings, such as the visit of the late Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi, to Pakistan and the visit of the Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, to Tehran.
He added that the continuous consultation between the leaders of the two countries reflects a strategic consensus that goes beyond official relations. He emphasized that the shared border between Iran and Pakistan represents a bridge for cultural and civilizational communication, not merely a dividing line. Araqchi also pointed to the Sufi ties and Nowruz as examples of the deep cultural overlap that enhances trust and political and religious rapprochement.
He affirmed that Iran and Pakistan share Islamic values such as justice and solidarity, which drive them to support just causes like the Palestinian issue. He believed that the integration between Iran’s energy resources and Pakistan’s agricultural sector forms a promising foundation for economic cooperation. Araqchi concluded his article by stating that Tehran and Islamabad adopt a vision for an open and fair regional economy and work on enhancing shared infrastructure and communications.
The article by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi coincides with Iranian President Masoud Bazeshkian’s official visit to Tehran today, Saturday. Before leaving Tehran today, Saturday, Bazeshkian expressed Tehran’s aspiration to increase trade exchange with Pakistan to 10 billion dollars, stressing the importance of joint security coordination, especially in border areas.
