Sputnik’s correspondent reported that Araqchi signed an agreement with the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, regarding cooperation between the two sides during their presence at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Cairo, in the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty.

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, stated that the text of the cooperation protocol between Tehran and the International Atomic Energy Agency has reached its final stages concerning the implementation of obligations and guarantees.

Baghaei noted that the text takes into account the field realities resulting from the illegal attacks carried out by Israel and the United States on Iranian nuclear facilities, as reported by Iran’s Mehr News Agency on Tuesday.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also mentioned that the text considers the Parliament’s law on this matter and the considerations of the Supreme National Security Council, pointing out that three rounds of negotiations were held between representatives of Iran and the agency.

Esmail Baghaei indicated that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi’s visits to Tunisia and Egypt are part of efforts with regional and Islamic countries to exchange views on international developments.

Baghaei noted that Araqchi will meet with the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency during his visit to Cairo to conclude negotiations on a new cooperation protocol between Iran and the agency.

On Monday, the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, said that talks with Iran about resuming comprehensive inspections had made progress, but warned that time is running out, expressing his hope to reach an agreement within days.

Iran decided to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency until the safety of scientists and nuclear facilities is ensured according to standards and a timetable set by the Supreme National Security Council, following the bombing of its nuclear facilities by the U.S. and Israel during a 12-day war last June.

In July, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that his country remains committed to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, but clarified that cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency will be managed through the Supreme National Security Council for reasons related to safety and security.
