On Tuesday evening, IRNA reported Brigadier General Nasir Zadeh explaining the achievements of Iranian defense industries during a joint meeting attended by the heads of committees of the Iranian Shura Council and ministry officials. Nasir Zadeh emphasized: ‘Within the framework of the Supreme Leader’s directives to maintain and increasingly enhance readiness to confront enemy threats, the armed forces have demonstrated, with self-confidence, reliance on the power of faith, a focus on knowledge, continuous innovation, and new technologies with a jihadist approach, to the world, the capability to defeat the malignant Zionist entity, especially in the recent imposed war.’
He continued: In the recent sacred and national defense, the armed forces, utilizing the achievements of advanced defense industries, successfully overcame the multilayered and advanced air defense of the Zionist entity, which was supported by other Western governments, and destroyed many of its military targets with missiles that are the fruit of the efforts of the country’s defense scientists.
Meanwhile, members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee and the heads of specialized committees in the Iranian Shura Council praised the army’s achievements in the recent Israeli war against their country. The members noted the efforts of the Iranian armed forces and their enhanced measures to develop defense industry capabilities in strategic areas such as missile development, air defense, cyber warfare, and other fields of ground, air, and naval combat, to achieve greater technological and joint defense capabilities.
On June 13th, Israel launched surprise airstrikes in an operation called ‘Rising Lion,’ targeting military sites and nuclear facilities in Iran, most notably the main uranium enrichment facility in Natanz. The Israeli strikes resulted in the deaths of several prominent military leaders and Iranian officials, most notably Revolutionary Guard Commander Hossein Salami, Army Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri, and the Commander of the Aerospace Forces in the Revolutionary Guard Amir Ali Hajizadeh.
Iran responded with missile strikes against Israel in a military operation called ‘Sincere Promise 3,’ during which dozens of military sites and air bases in Israel were targeted, affirming that the operation would continue as long as necessary. Israel justified its attacks by claiming that Iran had reached the ‘point of no return’ in uranium enrichment and was nearing, which Tehran denies, insisting that its nuclear activities are solely for peaceful purposes.
The United States also launched an attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan on the night of June 22nd. According to Washington, ‘the attack aimed to destroy or seriously weaken Iran’s nuclear program.’ Days later, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced a response to the United States by striking the American ‘Al Udeid’ base in Qatar.
