The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, published a photo on his account on the “X” platform, claiming it was taken at the site where Al-Sinwar was assassinated about a year ago in Rafah, Gaza Strip. The photo, taken on October 17, 2024, a day after Al-Sinwar’s assassination, shows the former Head of the Southern Command, Major General Yaron Finkelman, the former Head of the Operations Directorate, Major General Oded Basiuk, and the Gaza Division Commander, Brigadier General Barak Hiram.
Earlier, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed to have found a note in Gaza this year, written by the late leader of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Yahya Al-Sinwar. Israel alleged that it targeted civilians during the October 7, 2023 attack and broadcasted the atrocities live, according to the text.
This comes after the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, an Israeli government-affiliated research center, published the full document with analysis online, according to “Times of Israel”. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs released an image of a page from the memo, supposedly handwritten by Yahya Al-Sinwar, claiming, “Orders were given to terrorists to film the killings of civilians, soldiers, and families, not for documentation, but as a psychological weapon to terrorize Israelis and inspire extremists,” as they expressed.
It is noted that the Israeli army announced on October 17, 2024, the assassination of the former political bureau chief of Hamas, after a year-long pursuit.
