Photos published on Sunday morning show concrete blocks covered with yellow paint, along with yellow metal signs that will be installed to clearly define the path of the line. According to the Times of Israel, the ‘yellow line,’ as agreed upon by mediators, includes about 53% of the sector’s area, mostly non-urban areas. However, the Israeli army does not maintain ground forces throughout this entire area, with its military positions mainly concentrated near the border with Israel.
This move came under the directive of Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, who issued instructions last Friday to place these markers to clarify the scope of military control in the sector. Katz explained that these markers are intended to ‘warn Hamas elements and Gaza residents of the consequences of breaching the line or attempting to cross it, which will be met with an immediate military response.’
