The Israeli army confirmed in a statement on Sunday morning that it successfully intercepted a drone launched from Yemen, after activating warnings shortly before in the Arava region. The Israeli Broadcasting Authority explained that the Israeli Air Force managed to intercept a drone launched from Yemen in the Arava region in the south of the country, after activating warnings about missile and shell launches due to fears of falling interceptive debris.

On Saturday, the Yemeni group ‘Ansar Allah’ announced targeting several objectives in Tel Aviv, Israel, using a hypersonic multi-warhead ballistic missile. They added in a statement broadcasted by ‘Al-Masirah’ channel that the operation ‘achieved its goals by the grace of God and caused millions of settlers to rush to shelters,’ according to their expression.

The statement added: ‘Our missile force struck sensitive targets in occupied Jaffa with a hypersonic ballistic missile ‘Palestine2′,’ emphasizing the continuation of operations ‘in defense of Yemen and as part of the resistance against aggression and supporting Gaza until the siege is lifted.’

The statement described the Israeli attack on Yemen as ‘criminal’ and stated that this attack ‘will increase the Yemeni people’s steadfastness and resilience in the path of God and the oppressed.’ It continued: ‘Our people will not be deterred by the blatant Israeli aggression from continuing their principled stance towards their starving brothers in Gaza.’

This comes after the Israeli army announced on Saturday that it had detected the launch of a missile from Yemen towards Israeli territories, confirming that air defenses intercepted it. The Israeli army added: ‘Air defense systems are working to intercept the threat, and the public is requested to follow the defensive guidelines of the Home Front Command.’ They noted that ‘after the sirens were sounded a short while ago in several areas in Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted.’

Since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023, ‘Ansar Allah’ has been conducting operations, including those on ships associated with the United States and its allies in the Red Sea, stressing that these operations are in support of Gaza and affirming they will continue until Israel stops the war.
