According to what the Israeli Defense Forces published on the “X” platform, the Golani Brigade forces, operating in the area to dismantle terrorist infrastructure, detected the camera as part of Hamas’s intelligence network. Intelligence confirmed Hamas’s use of Nasser Hospital for military operations since the beginning of the conflict. The statement noted that the strike aimed to neutralize the threat posed by the camera, and the army said the forces acted with this objective. The initial investigation was presented today, Tuesday, to the Chief of General Staff, General Eyal, by the Southern Command leader, General Yaniv Assor, who confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, the Chief of General Staff expressed regret for any harm to civilians. General Zamir ordered a more detailed examination of the strike, including the validation process, the ammunition used, the timing of the operation, and decision-making at the field level. He stressed that Israeli army operations exclusively target military objectives. The Israeli army stated: “The enemy is conducting extensive visual intelligence gathering while exploiting sensitive civilian sites, such as hospitals, to carry out terrorist activities against our forces.” The Palestinian Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis reported on Monday that 14 people were killed, including 3 journalists, in an Israeli shelling that targeted the reception and emergency building, while media sources confirmed the death of 4 journalists in the strike. In turn, the government media office announced that the death toll of journalists since the start of the Israeli war on the sector in October 2023 has risen to “244 people after 4 journalists were killed by Israeli shelling on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, southern sector.” Simultaneously, the civil defense reported “the martyrdom of one of its members and the injury of 7 others while attempting to rescue the injured and retrieve the martyrs’ bodies from the site.” Recently, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate announced that “the Israeli army has killed 219 journalists and workers in the Palestinian media sector” since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
