Cairo – Sputnik. The Israeli parliament (Knesset) approved in the first reading on Wednesday a bill to impose Israeli sovereignty over all West Bank territories. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine strongly rejects and condemns the Knesset’s attempts to annex Palestinian territories through its approval today of what is called ‘establishing Israeli sovereignty.'”
Earlier, American media reported that more than 40 Democratic members of the U.S. Senate asked the president to strengthen his opposition to Israel’s plans to annex parts of the West Bank.
Other Western media revealed last September that President Trump promised Arab leaders, during a meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, not to allow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to annex the West Bank.
