According to Iraqi News Agency (INA), on Saturday evening, Khraisha’s statements were made during a dialogue session as part of the “Iraq Investment Forum”. The Jordanian minister pointed out that “this connection is not a temporary project but represents a strategic step towards energy exchange and a move towards clean energy sources.” He added that “the issue is not only about supplying electricity but also about energy exchange between countries, ensuring the benefit from production cost differences.

Khraisha explained that “Jordan is currently connected with Iraq with a capacity of 40 megawatts, and it will expand in the future to about 200 megawatts. The main goal of these projects is to achieve synchronous connection, which allows for energy exchange at any time, so that Jordan can benefit from Iraqi electricity when its cost is lower than local production costs, and vice versa.”

Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Khraisha, noted that “Jordan has begun preparing the necessary studies and working with global companies to produce green hydrogen, as part of strategic projects that integrate with the economic corridor linking India to the Arabian Gulf and reaching Europe.” He stated that “these projects are not surplus or temporary projects but strategic paths to secure the future of energy and achieve regional integration in this vital sector.”
