Killing of Journalists in Gaza Raises Questions

Araqchi questioned, commenting on the killing of 6 Palestinian journalists in Gaza, including Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqa: “Is this a sign of strength or a mark of fear for a globally ostracized entity heading towards downfall?” He affirmed that “when these tragedies end, the world will remember the complicity of Western governments, and their disgraceful silence will remain resonant.”

The Qatari network Al Jazeera reported the evening before last Sunday that its correspondents, Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqa, were killed in an Israeli attack on the journalists’ tent in the sector. The network stated: “The martyrdom of Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqa due to an Israeli strike on their tent.”

Simultaneously, Palestinian sources announced the death of journalist Mohammed Al-Khaldi and photographer Moamen Al-Uweih in the same Israeli shelling that targeted the Al Jazeera team in the tent adjacent to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza.

In a related context, it was announced the evening before last Sunday that Al Jazeera correspondent Anas Al-Sharif was targeted, accusing him of “leading a cell” affiliated with the Palestinian Hamas movement.
