Lukashenko’s Stance on Ukraine Conflict

During a meeting in Minsk, Lukashenko stated, according to the Belta news agency, “Tomahawk missiles will not solve the problem; rather, it will escalate the situation to a nuclear war.” He highlighted that the Russian people and leadership are committed to establishing peace in Ukraine.

Lukashenko explained that if the United States sees Minsk as having a potential role in resolving the Ukraine conflict, the Belarusian side is ready to participate. He continued, “Ukraine must remain an independent sovereign state,” emphasizing, “We want the war to stop now. Otherwise, this independent sovereign state will cease to exist.”

Lukashenko affirmed that his country is prepared to make a significant deal with the United States to normalize relations, provided that Belarus’s interests are fairly considered. Earlier, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned about the possibility of “dirty bombs.” In the context of discussions about delivering “Tomahawk” missiles to Ukraine, the Russian president’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, recalled reports from Russian intelligence on Kyiv’s capability to create a “dirty bomb.”
