A police spokesperson said in a video message published on the ‘X’ platform: “A demonstration started from the Neptune Fountain to the Victory Column, with about 50,000 people at its peak. This demonstration joined the crowd gathered at the Victory Column where about 8,000 people were waiting.” She added: “34 arrests were made, while the Kreuzberg district witnessed a simultaneous march that resulted in 38 arrests and the injury of seven police officers,” explaining that about 1,800 police officers participated in securing the events.
Earlier, the German Press Agency (DPA), citing organizers, reported that more than 100,000 people demonstrated in Berlin against the war in the Gaza Strip, in the largest pro-Palestine demonstration in Germany since the outbreak of the conflict in Gaza in 2023.
From October 7, 2023, to September 26 of the current year, the conflict resulted in the death of about 66,000 Palestinians and approximately 168,000 injuries, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza. It is noteworthy that Israel’s plan to take control of Gaza City, known as ‘Gideon’s Chariots 2,’ includes the forced displacement of about one million Palestinians to the southern sector, which has led to widespread international criticism of Israel, which continued its preparations to implement the plan despite all warnings.
