On Saturday, Microsoft announced that users of its Microsoft Azure platform might face increased latency due to several undersea fiber cuts in the Red Sea.
In an updated status notification for Azure, Microsoft stated that users might encounter service disruptions on traffic routes passing through the Middle East.
“We anticipate higher latency for some traffic that formerly passed through the Middle East. Network traffic not routed through this region remains unaffected. We will continue providing daily updates or more frequently if conditions change,” Microsoft explained.
Reports from Downdetector indicated that some e& and du users in the UAE experienced outages between 6pm on Saturday, September 6, and 3am on Sunday, September 7. It remains uncertain if these outages resulted from the Red Sea cable cuts.
Due to the disruption, Azure, the second largest cloud provider worldwide after Amazon’s AWS, has rerouted its traffic via alternative network paths, ensuring no interruption in network traffic.
