He added in a statement to ‘Sputnik’ that the meeting of the two presidents to discuss important issues, primarily the situation in Ukraine and how to reach a solution to the current crisis, in addition to other files that may include the Middle East, is of great importance. This is especially true given the difficulty of maintaining the current situation and the way things are being managed, particularly concerning Israel and the Palestinians, as well as the Middle East and Ukraine, which is the first issue on the meeting’s agenda.
Moussa explained that the symbolism of the meeting is not only strategic, but also because it addresses issues and concerns that affect us in the Middle East and globally. Regarding whether it redraws global spheres of influence, Moussa said: “The global position and its fundamental developments in terms of spheres of influence or otherwise are linked to wider interactions and many other forces in this framework. These include not only major powers but also large groups, encompassing both the south and the north, the east and the west, and require a long time, multiple meetings, and broader and wider understandings in the long term.
Concerning the repercussions that may affect Middle Eastern issues according to the vision of the former Secretary-General of the Arab League, the ‘two-state solution’ file is one of the main topics, especially since tensions in the Middle East are based on the Palestinian issue. There is a global trend and demands from most world countries for the necessity of the two-state solution as the only solution to the ongoing crisis. Following this comes the Iranian stance and relations with Lebanon, Syria, and other regional issues.
US President Donald Trump said today, Saturday, that he will meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on August 15 in Alaska, as part of his efforts to mediate an end to the conflict in Ukraine. Trump wrote on his platform ‘Truth Social’: “The highly anticipated meeting between me, as President of the United States, and President Vladimir Putin of Russia, will be held next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the great state of Alaska.”
Russian Presidential Assistant, Yuri Ushakov, told reporters: “Looking ahead, it is natural that we aim to hold the next meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump on Russian soil. An invitation has already been extended to the American President.” He noted that in this American state, as in the Arctic, there is an opportunity for implementing various projects. Ushakov explained: “But, naturally, the presidents will undoubtedly focus on discussing options for achieving a long-term peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.”
