Priceless Jewelry Stolen from Louvre Museum

Nunez told ‘France Inter’ radio: ‘Criminals used a ladder fixed on a truck to enter the Apollo Gallery in the museum, where they broke a window and stole jewelry of priceless historical value.’ The minister added that the capital’s police have mobilized their efforts to search for the thieves, expressing hope that they will be intercepted quickly.

French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, wrote on the ‘X’ platform: ‘A theft occurred this morning at the opening of the Louvre Museum.’ According to preliminary investigations, the thieves, who were fully masked, managed to access the museum located on the Seine River bank, where construction work was underway. They used a freight elevator to reach directly the targeted room in the Apollo Gallery, according to French media reports.

After breaking the windows, two thieves entered while their third accomplice remained outside. The thieves stole 9 pieces from the Napoleon and Empress jewelry collection, including a necklace, a brooch, a tiara, and others.
