Iconic Rolling Stones memorabilia, from Brian Jones’ guitar to Mick Jagger’s jacket, is set to hit the auction block next month, potentially fetching around $1.3 million (approximately Dh4.77 million).
A total of 185 items, including posters, stage-worn clothing, and tickets, will be auctioned by Dallas-based Heritage Auctions on December 4, during the event titled Satisfaction: The Rolling Stones Treasures from the Ali Zayeri Collection. Leading the sale is the late co-founder Jones’ Harmony Stratotone electric guitar, estimated at $200,000-$400,000.
“This was his first electric guitar, used during their early performances, demos, and even on their debut single, a Chuck Berry cover Come On,” said Charles Epting, director of consignments, pop culture, and historical at Heritage Auctions.
“It’s not a high-end guitar, more a modest instrument affordable to a working-class person in the early sixties, yet it paved the way for one of the world’s greatest bands.”
According to Epting, many items originate from the band’s early years. Other Jones-related pieces include a fringed suede jacket worn during his last live show with the band and a childhood book. Also up for auction are jackets worn by lead singer Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards, alongside signed drumsticks from drummer Charlie Watts.
“The top estimate for the auction exceeds $1.3 million. Key pieces like Jones’ guitar and the jackets could drive that figure higher,” Epting remarked.
“Collector interest is expected to be global, as few bands have the universal appeal of the Rolling Stones.”
The auction highlights are on display at Heritage Auctions’ London office until November 28.
