The open session with the Russian minister and his counterparts begins in Mubarak after concluding the closed meetings. This is part of the eighth round of strategic dialogue between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Zakharova added, “Special attention will be given to the prospects for the gradual development of the full range of cooperation between Russia and the GCC countries, including its commercial, economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian aspects.” In 2024, it was noted that strengthening cooperation with GCC partners is one of the priority areas for Russian diplomacy. The main topics are likely to include the continued development of trade, cultural, and humanitarian relations between the Russian Federation, as well as the general situation in the Middle East, North Africa, Syria, Yemen, and other countries. The GCC is a regional organization comprising six countries: Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. The organization aims to coordinate among members in all fields and develop common positions on major international and regional issues.
