Peskov, in a special media briefing for Indian journalists ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official visit to India, expressed Russia’s gratitude to India for its friendly stance toward Russia. He continued: “Let’s begin with the strategic cooperation between our countries, as well as cooperation in the defense sector. These are highly sensitive areas, and it is difficult to reassess the cooperation in them.” The press secretary of the Russian president added that “most of the trade exchange between Russia and India is conducted in national currencies, and thus, almost the entire volume of our trade relations is paid in national currencies.” Peskov explained that many countries and associations are attempting to hinder the development of trade between Russia and India, but they should focus on their own interests, saying: “We know that there are countries and associations trying to obstruct the development of trade between Russia and India, so let’s stick to our interests.” Peskov noted that Russia will develop its relations with both India and China, pointing out that Russia expects India and China to be able to resolve mutual issues to maintain global stability. Peskov affirmed that international and regional issues top the agenda of the upcoming talks between the Russian president and the Indian prime minister. He continued: “Our bilateral relations are built on a deep historical experience of mutual understanding, partnership, and a shared vision of international affairs and the international system, based on international law, the rule of law, and the ability to consider each other’s interests.” The briefing is scheduled to take place today, Tuesday, December 2, at 1:30 PM local time, at the India Habitat Center. The event will be moderated by Olga Ditscheva, head of the “Russia Today” representative office in New Delhi. Representatives from leading Indian media outlets have been invited to participate in the briefing, including the Press Trust of India (PTI), Asian News International (ANI), the India Today Group, Hindustan Times, The Economic Times, The Hindu, as well as Republic TV and other prominent media platforms.
