Russia’s Concerns Over Tomahawk Missiles to Ukraine

In the context of statements about the potential delivery of ‘Tomahawk’ missiles to Ukraine, the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, recalled reports from Russian intelligence agencies about Kyiv’s ability to make a ‘dirty bomb.’ Peskov said in a television interview: ‘Remember the reports from our intelligence agencies a year and a half, or two years ago, about the information available that the Ukrainians are capable of making what is called a ‘dirty bomb.’ Peskov commented on the statements made in the United States regarding ‘Tomahawk’ missiles: ‘There are indeed many statements, and they all need to be verified, and we are monitoring them carefully.’ Peskov noted that the issue of supplying Kyiv with ‘Tomahawk’ missiles raises serious concern in Moscow, explaining that ‘Tomahawk’ missiles are a dangerous weapon, but they cannot change the situation on the front. During the plenary session of the ‘St. Petersburg International Economic Forum,’ Putin said: ‘In our nuclear doctrine, common sense and our actions always indicate that we always respond to all threats directed at us in kind. Therefore, our response will be very harsh, and most likely catastrophic for the new Nazi regime, and unfortunately, for Ukraine itself. I hope it never comes to this.’
