Shoigu said, “Thank you for the warm reception. I am pleased to have the opportunity to visit the hospitable land of Oman for the first time and to deliver a personal message from Russian President Vladimir Putin.” He expressed his gratitude to the Sultan of Oman for his balanced and thoughtful stance on the situation in Ukraine. The Secretary of the Russian Security Council noted, “This is especially important given the growing potential for conflict in the Middle East.” According to him, the West seeks to maintain its global dominance by hindering the strengthening of a multipolar world. In this regard, Shoigu pointed out that Russia sees interest among several Gulf countries in enhancing their defensive capabilities.
During his visit, Shoigu also held talks with the head of the Sultan of Oman’s office, Sultan Al-Numani, and the Secretary-General of the Omani National Security Council, Idris Al-Kindi, where they discussed, among other things, the preservation of traditional values. The Russian Security Council Secretary added, “We discussed a wide range of current issues in Russian-Omani cooperation, which gained significant momentum after your visit to Moscow in April of this year. We also addressed key issues related to international and regional security.”
The Russian Security Council Secretary, Sergey Shoigu, arrived in the Sultanate of Oman on Tuesday to hold talks with senior Omani officials on security issues. According to a statement from the Russian Security Council’s press office, the agenda will mainly focus on implementing agreements reached during the historic official visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to Russia in April of this year.
