The Iranian news agency ‘Mehr’ reported from the Sistan and Baluchestan Police Information Center that ‘terrorist elements attacked two police patrols at the Daman Iranshahr checkpoint, which were engaged in providing security for citizens on the Khash-Iranshahr axis.’ The center added, ‘Five security personnel and police patrol forces were martyred in this terrorist act, and the process of identifying and pursuing the terrorist elements is ongoing, with results to be announced.’
This incident comes days after a similar attack, where the Sistan and Baluchestan Province police in southeastern Iran announced on August 10th the killing of three armed men in an armed clash with internal security forces in the city of Saravan.
The Iranian police media center reported that the incident occurred while a security patrol was performing its routine duties in the city, when it was attacked by unidentified gunmen. The statement explained that the security forces responded to the sources of fire, resulting in the killing of three attackers, while the others fled, according to the Iranian news agency ‘Mehr.’
