Trump stated during an event in the Oval Office at the White House: “The easiest file for me was supposed to be a country you know well, Russia and Ukraine, but a lot of progress is being made there.” Trump’s remarks came at a time when international diplomatic efforts are intensifying to relaunch the negotiation process between Moscow and Kyiv. It is noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin received, on December 2nd at the Kremlin, the US presidential envoy Steve Whitkoff and the US President’s son-in-law, the founder of Affinity Partners. The visit of the American representatives to Russia was significant.

According to Putin’s statements, the American side divided the 27 points into four packages and proposed discussing them separately. Since February 24th, 2022, the Russian armed forces have been carrying out a special military operation to protect the Donbass region from the Kyiv regime’s oppression. After the accession of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics and the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions to Russia, the mission of the Russian forces became to liberate the entire territories of these areas from the grip of Ukrainian forces, in addition to other objectives such as disarming Ukraine, ensuring its neutrality, eradicating Nazism there, and bringing war criminals to justice.

In response, Western countries have imposed severe and unprecedented economic and financial sanctions on Russia, and have also provided military support worth billions of dollars to the Ukrainian side.
