President Donald Trump announced that his administration will reveal new findings on autism this coming Monday, though details are yet to be disclosed.

“We’re set to make an autism announcement on Monday,” Trump stated during a dinner by the American Cornerstone Institute. “I believe it will be a very significant reveal, one of the most crucial initiatives we undertake.”

Autism diagnoses have surged in the U.S. since 2000, raising public concern. By 2020, autism affected 1 in 36 eight-year-olds, a rate of 2.77%, up from 2.27% in 2018 and 0.66% in 2000, according to the CDC.

Kennedy claims an “autism epidemic” is driven by “environmental toxins.” While decades of research have not pinpointed specific causes, many scientists suggest genetics and environmental factors are involved.

Trump hinted at another announcement next week. Mehmet Oz, the head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will introduce a “most favoured nation” drug pricing model. This aims to align U.S. drug prices with the lowest rates paid by OECD countries, which include key global economies.

“Dr. Oz is leading this, and he’s intelligent and determined. I hope he succeeds,” Trump commented. “If countries resist, we’ll impose tariffs.”
