In a shocking incident in Kerala, a UAE-based businessman was kidnapped, leading to the arrest of a former employee, as reported by Malayalam media.

Reports indicate that the Kerala police revealed the employee was dismissed, sparking resentment and personal vendetta. He had allegedly threatened his former boss prior to the incident.

The entrepreneur, who owns a pharmacy chain in Sharjah, was abducted while visiting his hometown, Malappuram, on a short vacation. Two days later, police successfully rescued him from Kollam, over 300km away from the abduction site.

Additional media reports hint that more suspects might be involved in the crime. Among those arrested, two have past criminal records, including attempted murder. The police are actively investigating to recover all vehicles and apprehend all suspects.

The former employee, now in custody with five others, was reportedly involved in several of the businessman’s ventures. Investigators are probing potential financial motives for the kidnapping.

Shortly after the kidnapping, a WhatsApp call demanded a ransom of over Dh500,000 from the businessman’s partner and wife, urging her to withdraw the police complaint.

The businessman’s wife, who was in the UAE during the incident, immediately traveled to India. Local police focused their inquiry on the vehicles used in the kidnapping.

In a statement to Khaleej Times, a company representative confirmed the rescue was “prompt and efficient,” and the suspects are in custody.
