As the UAE prepares for its 54th National Day, now known as Eid Al Etihad since 2024, it commemorates the nation’s historic union on December 2, 1971.

Leading up to this grand December celebration, the Eid Al Etihad Team has issued a nationwide open call for artists, designers, creative businesses, and manufacturers to contribute official merchandise for the festivities.

This initiative, aligned with the Year of Community, aims to showcase the UAE’s diverse creative talent while fostering collaboration and inclusivity. Participants are encouraged to create merchandise that transcends simple products, serving as enduring symbols of memory that embody the UAE’s identity and unite communities in joy and pride.

Preparations for the celebration are already in progress, and everyone residing in the UAE is urged to start planning for this year’s festivities.

Eisa Alsubousi, Director of Strategic and Creative Affairs of the Eid Al Etihad Team, said, “This open call presents a chance for partnership and inclusion, where creativity bridges connections and strengthens our emotional bond with the shared national story. We’re thrilled to collaborate with our creative community to craft sustainable merchandise rooted in our heritage, community, and unity, bringing joy today and anticipation for the future we build together.”

Chosen applicants will have their creations featured and distributed as part of the official Eid Al Etihad merchandise collection. Those not selected, along with all others, are encouraged to use the Eid Al Etihad brand, accessible at www.EidAlEtihad.ae, in their celebrations and share their creative expressions on social media to help shape a unified 54th Eid Al Etihad.

Applications are open until October 17 and can be submitted via the official Eid Al Etihad website and social media channels.

Public holidays

Every December, a festive atmosphere envelops the UAE as the nation prepares to celebrate the historic unification of the seven Emirates on December 2.

For many residents, Eid Al Etihad signifies UAE public holidays. Typically, employees from both public and private sectors enjoy two days off, December 2 and 3, providing time for staycations, road trips, or relaxation at home.

This year, residents will enjoy midweek holidays on Tuesday, December 2, and Wednesday, December 3. Why not extend this to a week-long break by taking annual leave on Monday, December 1, and Thursday and Friday (Dec 4, 5)? With weekends included, you’ll have a 9-day holiday to conclude the year.
