As summer holidays conclude and the UAE prepares for the new school year, the Ministry of Interior has designated August 25, 2025, as ‘A Day Without Accidents’ to mark the start of the academic calendar.

This initiative will be implemented by the Ministry of Interior (MOI) in collaboration with police departments nationwide. It coincides with the annual return of students to school, aiming to enhance road safety amidst increased traffic following the summer break.

Incentives for Safe Driving

To encourage safe driving, the ministry has introduced a reward system. Motorists who comply with traffic laws on this day can benefit.

By submitting a pledge on the MOI’s official website and maintaining a clean record on August 25, drivers can have four black points removed from their licenses. This deduction will be processed electronically by September 15, 2025, eliminating the need for visits to service centers.

Addressing Common Violations

Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, head of the Federal Traffic Council, stated that the initiative not only seeks to ensure safety on the school reopening day but also aims to highlight recurring traffic violations.

Drivers are urged to wear seatbelts, adhere to speed limits, keep safe distances, avoid distractions like mobile phones, and yield to emergency vehicles and official convoys.
