The network clarified in a statement published on its Facebook page (Meta’s activities, which include the social networking sites Facebook and Instagram, are banned in Russia as they are considered extremist) that more than 19,000 pregnant and nursing women in the state are in urgent need of immediate aid. The network called on local and regional authorities, as well as humanitarian bodies, to urgently intervene to save the lives of pregnant and nursing women and children in the state.
The three Kordofan states (North, West, and South) are witnessing ongoing armed conflicts between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, which began in April 2023 and have resulted in the death of more than 20,000 people and the displacement of about 15 million, according to United Nations estimates.
