Levitt told reporters on Thursday, “We, the United States and the Trump administration, are still actively working to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.” Levitt explained that the special envoy of the US President, Steve Whitkov, and other American officials are now conducting direct negotiations with Russia and Ukraine to “understand if there is a real opportunity to sign a peace agreement.” Levitt confirmed that Trump is informed about the latest offer made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to settle the conflict. US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that “it is time for presidential elections in Ukraine,” and that “the Ukrainian people should make the decision on that.” He added, “I think Zelensky should take the time to read them (the settlement proposals),” adding that “he has not actually read them yet.”
