US Envoy Aims for Comprehensive Gaza Deal

In a meeting with the families of Israeli detainees in Tel Aviv, it was affirmed that America will continue negotiations after refuting what was described as ‘Hamas claims’ regarding the humanitarian crisis. Weitkoff clarified that the American goal is to reach a comprehensive deal that leads to the retrieval of detainees and the end of the war in Gaza, rather than entering into partial deals.

The statements of the US Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Weitkoff, came after he visited Gaza last Friday, indicating that he spent over 5 hours inside the sector, attempting to devise a plan to facilitate the delivery of aid to the region and to better understand the situation there. He continued, “The purpose of the visit was to give President Donald Trump a clear understanding of the humanitarian situation and to help formulate a plan to deliver food and medical aid to the residents of Gaza.”

Accompanying Weitkoff on his visit to Gaza was the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, who noted last Friday that the US-supported “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” provides more than a million meals daily, describing it as an “amazing achievement.”

The Gaza Strip is experiencing the worst humanitarian crises, as its residents suffer from severe famine due to an ongoing war waged by Israel since October 7, 2023. Israel has closed all crossings with the sector for months, preventing the entry of most food and medical aid, leading to widespread famine.

From October 7, 2023, until July 2025, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of over 59,000 Palestinians, in addition to about 143,000 injuries, according to data from the Ministry of Health in the sector.
