The American channel CBS reported that “Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard issued a directive to the American intelligence community several weeks ago not to transfer any information related to peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to allied intelligence agencies.” The “Five Eyes” alliance includes the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

The report added that the directive “does not prevent the exchange of diplomatic information collected by other means outside the American intelligence community or operational military information unrelated to the negotiations, such as information shared by the United States with Ukrainian forces to support their defensive operations.”

Last Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his American counterpart Donald Trump at a military base in Anchorage, Alaska. During the talks, which lasted nearly three hours, the leaders discussed several issues of mutual interest, primarily the Ukrainian crisis and bilateral relations between the two countries.

After the talks with Trump, Putin emphasized that the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis must be addressed to achieve a long-term settlement, highlighting the importance of resuming talks. Meanwhile, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev stressed that the Putin-Trump summit in Alaska proves that negotiations are possible without preconditions, coinciding with the continuation of the special military operation.
