At least 10 people have died and 41 were injured when a freight train collided with a double-decker bus in central Mexico, as reported by local authorities on Monday.

Security camera footage aired by local media captures the train crashing into the bus as it attempts to cross the tracks in Atlacomulco, approximately 60 miles (100 kilometers) northwest of Mexico City.

The video shows that there are no crossing gates, with other vehicles stopped, not crossing the tracks.

“We have a total of 41 injured and 10 fatalities,” stated Adrian Hernandez, a civil protection official for the State of Mexico, where Atlacomulco is situated.

He noted that four of the injured are in critical condition.

Social media images showed several injured passengers exiting the bus, and photos from the scene depicted the bus missing its entire roof and rear.

The bus driver has been arrested and is under the custody of the local prosecutor’s office, Hernandez added.
