Charlie Kirk, a prominent right-wing activist and close associate of former President Donald Trump, was tragically shot and killed during an event in Utah. Here are the details.

Event at a University

Kirk, who leads the largest conservative youth organization in the U.S., founded in 2012 at just 18, was speaking around midday at Utah Valley University.

Wearing a white t-shirt emblazoned with “Freedom,” Kirk was seated under a tent, engaging with a large audience through a Q&A session.

This event was the inaugural stop of a tour with 15 planned events nationwide through October.

A Sudden Gunshot and Chaos

Former Utah congressman Jason Chaffetz, present at the scene, shared with Fox News that Kirk was addressing a query on “transgender shooters, mass shooters,” when a gunshot interrupted.

The 31-year-old fell, bleeding from his neck, as captured in a nearby video.

His security team quickly transported him away on a stretcher.

“Once the shot was fired, he collapsed,” Chaffetz recounted. “Everyone dived for cover… screams erupted, and panic ensued.”

Search for the Shooter Continues

No arrests have been made in what authorities describe as a “targeted attack,” per Utah’s Department of Public Safety.

“The shooter likely fired from a rooftop overlooking the student courtyard,” the statement read.

Two individuals were briefly detained and released after questioning. One, George Zinn, faces charges of obstruction, though neither is linked to the shooting, according to officials.

Trump Confirms Kirk’s Passing

Trump confirmed Kirk’s death on Truth Social, stating: “The great and legendary Charlie Kirk has passed away.”

Across the aisle, Democratic leaders, including Kamala Harris, condemned the violence, emphasizing that “political violence is unacceptable in America.”

Trump Promises Action

Although no suspect is identified, Trump attributed Kirk’s death to “radical left” rhetoric, promising stringent measures.

“This rhetoric fuels the terrorism we’re witnessing today,” he declared in a solemn video from the Oval Office.

“We will pursue those responsible for this and other political violence, including their supporters,” vowed the President.
