A 28-year-old Asian man received a life sentence from the Dubai Criminal Court after being apprehended in a detailed police operation aimed at thwarting a drug sale. The court also mandated the confiscation of all narcotics and his deportation after serving his sentence.
The incident occurred in April in Dubai, when the General Department of Anti-Narcotics obtained intelligence about an Asian man possessing drugs for sale. Acting on this lead, police orchestrated a sting operation, posing as buyers to catch the suspect during the transaction.
A police investigation officer stated that the suspect was caught in the act, accepting Dh200 for drugs. Authorities found three plastic bags containing 24 grams of methamphetamine, a banned substance in the UAE. Laboratory tests confirmed the suspect was also using illegal drugs.

During the investigation, the accused admitted to drug use and disclosed purchasing the substances from another Asian dealer, whose identity was unknown to him. He intended to sell part of the drugs to another person but was arrested when it turned out to be a police sting.
The Dubai Criminal Court, after evaluating the evidence, acknowledged the seriousness of the crime. The court noted the defendant’s intention to distribute drugs, the quantity in his possession, and his drug use, justifying the life sentence. The court ordered the confiscation of the drugs and deportation after the prison term, in accordance with UAE laws for foreign nationals convicted of serious drug crimes.
Authorities highlighted that the case underscores the UAE’s strict zero-tolerance policy on drug trafficking and the importance of intelligence-driven operations in combating drug distribution. The General Department of Anti-Narcotics remains focused on proactive investigations, targeting dealers and networks to curb the sale and use of illegal substances in Dubai.
This case serves as a stern warning to those involved in drug-related activities, emphasizing that law enforcement is actively monitoring and intercepting drug trafficking attempts to ensure public safety and legal compliance.
