Algeria – Sputnik. Afghan police radio, citing local officials, reported that “about 60 people were killed as a result of a bus catching fire following a traffic accident in Herat Province.” It added that “the bus was carrying passengers returning from a neighboring country.” Additional reports indicated that local authorities in Herat faced challenges due to rough roads, which hindered rescue operations and led to delays in aiding the injured.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire spread rapidly due to the bus being loaded with flammable materials, which increased the scale of the disaster.

On December 19th, two collisions resulted in the death of 44 people and injured 76 others on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in Ghazni Province.
